Oronasal Maxillectomy

Oronasal fistulas of this large nature become significantly smaller as they heal. As the tissues heal, we have options for additional surgery if needed without having to deal with previous closure tissue over the opening. In some situations eventual closure is not needed especially if the animal is not having any clinical issue with the opening (no food accumulation in the nose). In other situations a graft can be taken from the inside of the cheek to cover the opening if needed. Also small recurrence issues can be corrected before final closure is attempted.
